From your shepherd...

At the very beginning of this journey through the pages of the official website of St. Thomas Church, Thuruthoor Sinaimount, Kerala, India, I would like to extend my welcome and express my gratitude for stopping by. As you page through this site, I hope and pray that you may grow in true faith and know the great history of the wonderful parish family of St. Thomas at Thuruthoor, Kerala, God's own country.
We, the members of Sinaimount St.Thomas parish family, together with our Patron Saint Thomas, proudly profess our faith in Jesus as our Lord and our God. On this momentous occasion of the restoration and rebuilding of our church, we gratefully remember all our parents and family members who have gone ahead of us to their heavenly home. We remember their great sacrifice of love with gratitude, and pray that the "Light of Christ", which we have received as they took us to the Baptismal Font, may keep burning brightly, that we may keep our faith alive in our hearts and lives.
As we are standing at the threshold of a new age in the history of St. Thomas parish, let us remember that it is a matter of letting go and receiving what is given freely by God. It is the gradual emptying of our attachment to new conception and a new birth. We are going through a birth pain. We are going through a pain of displacement. There must be some 'displacement' before there can be any new ' replacement '. As our Lord and Master said " unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit." (John 12: 24)
" If Jesus is the symbol of gift itself and how God gives the gift, then our Blessed Mother Mary is the symbol of how the gift is received and treasured" (Fr. Richard Rohr) Let us receive the gift God has given us with a mind of gratitude and express that gratitude through a life of stewardship, by keeping our faith alive and active.
